According to Sport, Franck Kessie has now agreed to join Barcelona, despite interest from Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle.

What’s the story?

Well, this is a blow for the Premier League trio.

Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle now look set to miss out on the 25-year-old, as he has seemingly been lured to the Camp Nou by Xavi.

Sport believe Kessie will become Barcelona’s second free transfer of the summer, as Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has also agreed to join when his contract expires in June.

The Spanish news outlet confidently state that the Ivory Coast international – who they say is valued at €48m (£41m) – will now join the Blaugrana for nothing.

It was La Reppublica who revealed that Liverpool and Newcastle want to sign Kessie.

Elsewhere, Tutto Mercato Web claimed that Tottenham are keen.

So far this season, Kessie has scored six goals in 29 appearances.

Liverpool, Tottenham or Newcastle could still sign Franck Kessie

In our view, this isn’t over yet.

Yes, Kessie has verbally agreed to join Barcelona, but the Spanish giants are not able to compete with the Premier League trio financially.

Barcelona are strapped for cash, hence why they’re shopping for free agents such as Kessie and Christensen.

Therefore, the Reds, Spurs or the Magpies could blow Barcelona out of the water by offering Kessie a larger salary than he’d get in Catalonia.

It seems like the deal is quite advanced, but money talks – keep an eye on this saga, in case one of the Premier League trio attempt to hijack it.
