Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall finds himself a wanted man ahead of the summer transfer window with Everton and West Ham United both interested.

That’s according to The Sun, who claim that West Ham have stepped up their interest in signing Worrall with scouts watching him in action for Forest.

Key men around West Ham boss David Moyes are urging him to make a bid for Worrall but only if Forest miss out on promotion to the Premier League.

A deal would be unlikely if Forest go up, but they may need to sell if they miss out on a spot in the Premier League next season.

A fee of around £12million to £15million would be needed for Worrall and West Ham are far from alone in the race for his signature.

It’s added that Brentford also want Worrall whilst Everton have been watching the defender themselves ahead of a possible move.

Worrall, 25, is the current Forest captain and has racked up more than 150 appearances for the Championship club.

A key part of Steve Cooper’s three-man back line at Forest, Worrall is one of the top players in the second tier and looks ready for the Premier League.

Whether that comes with Everton or West Ham remains to be seen, but you would have to say the Hammers are more likely as things stand.

West Ham could have European football again next season whilst Everton are in a real battle even just to stay in the Premier League.

Add in that David Moyes loves a signing from the Championship – just look at Craig Dawson, Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen – and Worrall to West Ham sounds feasible.

Praised as a ‘fantastic player’ by Steven Gerrard, Worrall has been highly rated for many years now and could finally make the step up this summer – whether that’s with Forest, Everton or West Ham.
