Jesse Marsch told his post-match press conference after Leeds United’s win over Norwich City that Jack Harrison was “disappointed” to be dropped from the starting line-up. Leeds managed to sneak a 2-1 win in injury time.

Despite Kenny McLean equalising for Norwich in the 91st minute against Leeds, the Whites went up the other end – Raphinha squaring for Joe Gelhardt to score. A brilliant win for Leeds, in the fight against the drop.

Ahead of the match, Marsch handed England international Bamford his first start since September and it showed just how much Leeds have missed him. He came in for Harrison, with Dan James returning to the left flank.

Marsch spoke after about axing Harrison to bring in Bamford and keep James in the side, on the left. The American boss spoke of Harrison being “disappointed”, but said Harrison was “fantastic” when he came on.

“He was fantastic, I knew he was disappointed not to be in the first XI. I told him he was likely in almost every scenario to be the first sub to come on the pitch and give us what we need,” Marsch said about £11m (BBC) Harrison.

Marsch on Harrison: Leeds star will still be pivotal in fight against drop

That win makes things sit a little easier with Leeds fans. The performance, first goals under Marsch and first points – it feels like it was a game Leeds had to win, no matter how, and they did in what was Marsch’s first real test.

Next up is a very tricky trip to Wolves, a side that have just beaten relegation rivals Everton at home. But Leeds have opened up a four-point buffer and while Everton have games in hand, the momentum is at Leeds.
