Jack Wilshere has praised Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka on Stadium Astro and has said that the Switzerland international is a natural leader.

The former Arsenal midfielder has played with Xhaka and knows how the current players view the 29-year-old, who cost the Gunners £30 million in transfer fees in 2016 (Sky Sports).

Wilshere has hailed the attributes of Xhaka, and has pointed out that whenever he makes a mistake, he admits it.

The Englishman said about Xhaka: “People will say whatever they want about Granit Xhaka, but for me, first of all, playing with him, looking back, people look up to him, people follow him.

“And yes, he will make the odd mistake, but he will hold his hands up. He is a leader, he is a natural leader.”

Deserves respect

In our view, Xhaka deserves a lot of respect for what he has done and for what he does at Arsenal.

We all remember that problem that the midfielder had with some Arsenal fans against Crystal Palace, but things have changed now.

For the better.

Yes, Xhaka does get dismissed at odd times, but when he is on song, he is brilliant.

There is a reason why Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta often plays him, and the reason is that he is very good and reliable.

Xhaka has given one assist in 15 Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far this season.

The midfielder made 29 starts and two substitute appearances in the league last season, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the process.
