Last month, Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi sat down with The Athletic to discuss what they’ve done at Newcastle so far.

The Newcastle co-owners also shared plans for more change on Tyneside, and a photo released today suggests one idea is already in motion.

What’s the story?

Well, The Athletic were told that Staveley and Ghodoussi planned to turn the Nine Bar at St James’ Park back into Shearer’s – its original name.

The pair weren’t fibbing, as that’s exactly what’s happening as we type.

You can see a photo of construction work outside St James’ Park below.

It’s only a minor modification, although it goes a long way to making Newcastle fans feel as if they have their beloved Magpies back.

Clearly, Staveley and Ghodoussi are keen to wipe away most changes made by Mike Ashley during his miserable time at the helm.

What else could change at Newcastle?

This isn’t the only thing Staveley and Ghodoussi are planning to change.

Also seen in The Athletic, the pair are hoping to move the Alan Shearer statue onto stadium ground, close to the Sir Bobby Robson statue.

They are also aiming to increase the 52,000 capacity of St James’ Park in order to get more supporters in, but stressed that moving to a different site would be like “tearing your soul out”.

Staveley and Ghodoussi also have plans for a new training ground, which will “probably” take around three years.

Without a doubt, it’s a very, very exciting time to be part of the Toon Army.
