Thierry Henry has stated that when Mauricio Pochettino was at Tottenham Hotspur ‘you knew’ what he and his team were about, but that’s not the case now with Paris Saint-Germain, as he told CBS Sports (09/03/22/ at 10:30 pm).

PSG were knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday night by Real Madrid, with France legend, Henry, questioning if ‘the players are too powerful?’.

Even though Paris Saint-Germain took a 1-0 lead heading into the second leg at the Bernabeu, and then opened the scoring through Kylian Mbappe, they still managed to, somehow, shoot themselves in the foot with Karim Benzema scoring a crazy 17-minute second-half hat-trick.

It is mind-boggling to think that Pochettino got further with a Spurs side that not much money was spent on in the Champion League, compared to a PSG team that is riddled with so-called star-studded talent.

Nonetheless, Henry touched upon the issues in the French capital and how the managers may not be the problem.

“That’s a given with Pep (Guardiola),” said Henry. “If you don’t do what is required, then you are not going to play. If you don’t do what you have to do in Europe, especially away from home. You have to do extra. And this is what’s not happening with Paris.

“We mentioned before, Emery couldn’t do it. He left, then won the Europa League with Villarreal. Tuchel, he leaves, and suddenly he wins the Champions League with Chelsea.

“Even Pochettino, when he was in the Premier League, you knew what Tottenham were going to do. You knew what they were about. Even when he was at Southampton.

“Tough team to play against. They were going to get you on the break and put pressure. It was difficult. I didn’t see that yet with Paris Saint-Germain. We can also go with other managers that were there. Are the players too powerful?”

For PSG, it just further proves that you can’t buy history because that’s another European competition they have been knocked out from.

In truth, it’s probably also the end of the road for Pochettino because the main aim of that club is to win the Champions League.

Not so long ago, Spurs fans would have probably been waiting at the end of the road and hoping to pick Poch back up.

But, with Antonio Conte now in charge, they have seemingly moved on from the Argentine, who could still return to the Premier League, with a certain Manchester club still looking for a manager.
