Unfortunately, the World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final clash between Scotland and Ukraine has now been postponed, after Russia invaded their neighbours.

Of course, at a time like this, football pales in comparison to the magnitude of war, and there are far greater things to worry about.

However, those who purchased tickets to the game at Hampden Park may be wondering what happens next, so here are all the details after the FIFA Organising Committee decided to postpone the World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final…

Why is Scotland vs Ukraine postponed?

Obviously, the game has been postponed due to the war in Ukraine, although let’s examine the specifics.

It was Ukraine who asked both FIFA and UEFA to postpone the tie, which was originally due to take place on Thursday 24th March.

Scotland have released a statement supporting the decision, as they show solidarity with Ukraine amid this difficult time.

When could Scotland vs Ukraine be played?

As seen in Scotland’s statement, we must now await confirmation from UEFA in regards to the amended fixture list.

However, we can tell you that the rescheduled game will take place sometime in June, with UEFA yet to confirm the specific details.

In the meantime, a friendly clash has been arranged for Scotland with the losers of the other World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final between Wales and Austria, which will take place on Tuesday 29th March.

Those who purchased tickets for the game between Scotland vs Ukraine must hang on to them, as they will remain valid for the rescheduled fixture.

Scotland have announced that they are currently in discussions to find a replacement fixture for March 24th, and will update supporters who purchased tickets for the Play-Off Semi-Final and Nations League package when they have more information.
