What a potential Liverpool audition that was by Milan Skriniar.
Liverpool being drawn against Inter Milan in the Champions League was a fascinating development.
That’s because the Reds have been linked with a move to sign the Nerazurri central defender.
And if the Anfield outfit are genuinely interested, then he passed Tuesday night’s test with flying colours.
Not many opposing teams record a clean sheet away to Liverpool but Inter, led by Skriniar, achieved just that on Merseyside last night.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, it was a ‘monumental’ performance from the powerhouse defender and now it’ll be interesting to see if strengthens the Reds’ desire to get him.
In February, Liverpool were reported to have held talks over signing the £55 million-rated stalwart [TMW] and on the back of that performance, don’t be surprised if negotiations continue.
Jurgen Klopp doesn’t necessarily need Skriniar at this moment in time.
But with Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk both turning 31 this summer, perhaps signing Skriniar – who turned 27 a few weeks ago – as a long-term replacement wouldn’t be a bad move.
