Leeds and Newcastle have been handed a boost over Boubacar Kamara, with Manchester United prioritising a new manager over signing the French midfielder.

According to Foot Mercato, the Red Devils will not make any new signings until a full-time head coach is decided, with Ralf Rangnick set to take a consultancy role at the end of this season as United look to appoint a new manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking in 2021.

As a result, Leeds and Newcastle have been awarded an unintentional boost to sign Olympique Marseille star Kamara, with Foot Mercato stating that Atletico Madrid are also eyeing the 22-year-old defensive midfielder.

Kamara is regarded as one of the best talents in France, with former teammate Rolando hailing the youngster as a ‘phenom’. However, whilst United are now out of the race for the midfielder, Leeds and Newcastle face another obstacle.

As per the Sun, the French prospect is looking for a hefty salary wherever he ends up this summer after leaving Marseille, with Kamara setting his demands at £8m-a-year, a cool £150,000-a-week when divided up.

Indeed, this alone could put some clubs off pursuing the youngster, yet given his potential and incredible amount of appearances for Marseille, Kamara could be worth the money for the likes of Newcastle and Leeds, especially with United now out of the race for the time being.

United’s stance on Kamara is huge for Newcastle and Leeds

Kamara is just one of many free agents this summer who will be chased by multiple clubs, yet for Newcastle and Leeds, United’s stance on the midfielder is massive for the Premier League duo, who could be motivated to sign the Frenchman.

The 22-year-old has been one of the best defensive midfielders in France and Europe as a whole in recent years, and for United to lower their guard on Kamara at this stage of the year will be a huge source of motivation for the likes of Newcastle and Leeds.
