Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is allegedly keen on signing Jordan Pickford – but the Everton goalkeeper endured a difficult night against Spurs.
Back in November, The Telegraph reported that Conte was keen to bring Pickford to Tottenham as their new long-term goalkeeper.
Hugo Lloris is staying put for another year, but Pickford was being eyed up to become the main goalkeeper at Tottenham for years to come.
Conte allegedly fancies a homegrown goalkeeper at Tottenham and Pickford ticked the boxes for the Spurs boss.
On Monday, Conte had the chance to see Pickford up close as Tottenham hosted Everton in the Premier League.
It proved to be a dismal night for Pickford and Everton though as Tottenham ran riot in a thumping 5-0 victory.
Pickford didn’t exactly colour himself in glory, especially for Tottenham’s second goal.
Son Heung-min’s strike should have been a relatively simple save for Pickford; it wasn’t struck cleanly and was heading straight at him.
However, Pickford somehow allowed the ball to squirm underneath him and into the net, gifting Spurs a 2-0 lead.
The defending in front of Pickford was a dreadful all night, but that mistake really gave Everton a mountain to climb.

Pundit Efan Ekoku slated the error, telling the Premier League’s world feed that Pickford’s goalkeeping was ‘terrible’ for Son’s goal.
That’s not exactly the ideal birthday for Pickford, who turned 28 on Monday.
Who knows if Conte still wants to sign Pickford, but you could hardly blame Spurs for thinking about other homegrown goalkeeper instead.
Nick Pope, Dean Henderson or maybe even Etienne Green will likely be on Tottenham’s radar too, with Pickford hardly thriving in front of Conte.
