Tim Sherwood has criticised Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur on Sky Sports News (1:27pm, March 5, 2022).

The former Tottenham manager believes that Spurs made a mistake in signing Bentancur from Juventus in the January transfer window.

The Sky Sports pundit has not been impressed by what he has seen of the 24-year-old Uruguay international midfielder so far.

Tottenham paid Juventus £15.8 million in transfer fees (Sky Sports) in January to sign Bentancur.

The midfielder has made four appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham so far.

Spurs have won one and lost three of those games.

Bentancur has played 41.25 passes per match on average.

Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (1:27pm, March 5, 2022): “What they do is buy is Bentancur who gives the ball away more than he keeps it, and when he keeps it, he goes square and backwards.

“Kulusevski looks okay, but a development player. We are developing for someone else.”

Tottenham fans should keep faith in Rodrigo Bentancur

In our view, Tottenham fans should keep faith in Bentancur.

After all, the midfielder has made only a handful of appearances for Tottenham.

It is too early to judge the midfielder.

Let’s not forget that Bentancur has arrived from Juventus.

Juventus are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the Italian giants do not sign players who are not good.

We think that the midfielder will eventually come good, and Spurs fans should be optimistic about him.
