Kieran Trippier has tipped Newcastle United attacker Allan Saint-Maximin to win the Ballon d’Or based on his quality both in the Premier League and in training.
In an interview with the True Geordie Podcast, the England international lauded his Newcastle teammate for his incredible talent and potential, with Trippier blown away by Saint-Maximin since joining the club in January.
The fullback was PIF’s first signing in the winter window, with Trippier becoming an immediate success at the club as well as a leader in Eddie Howe’s squad, with Newcastle shooting up the table since the closure of the January market.
And one player who has blown Trippier away is Saint-Maximin, with the former Atletico Madrid star tipping the French attacker to one day win the Ballon d’Or and noting how incredible the winger is in training.
Trippier said: “Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it. I don’t even know how to explain it. Honestly, he’s mental. I just stand off him [in training]. He’s just one of those players who gets you on the edge of your seat with the things he does. Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like him before.”
The Newcastle star added: “He has that magic where he can just make anything happen. Even I don’t know what he’s going to do with the ball, and he doesn’t want to change that.
“I’ve spoken to him and he’s saying to be he wants to win the Ballon d’Or and play for his national side, and he will reach that. He’s a quality player.”
Trippier’s praise of Saint-Maximin highlights how far Newcastle star can go

Saint-Maximin has been one of Newcastle’s and the Premier League’s most exciting players since arriving from OGC Nice, and Trippier’s praise of the attacker is a testament to how far the livewire forward can go in football.
The winger has thrived since Howe’s arrival, and Trippier’s comments on Saint-Maximin indicate that the player himself is confident in reaching a world-class level that will excite Newcastle supporters to no end in the future.
