Graeme Souness has said on Sky Sports Premier League (8:03pm, March 5, 2022) that he wants Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk to get angry.
The Liverpool legend made the comments about Van Dijk after watching him in action against West Ham United at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
Jurgen Klopp’s side won the match 1-0.
As expected, former Celtic centre-back Van Dijk played well and had yet another great game.
Souness said: “I would like to see him get angry. I have never seen a great player who doesn’t get angry. He doesn’t get angry. It is too easy for him.”

Virgil van Dijk should not get angry
In our view, Van Dijk should not heed Souness’s advice and should not get angry while playing for Liverpool or the Netherlands.
What’s the point?
The Netherlands international centre-back does well the way he plays.
Van Dijk is 30 now, and we do not think that he will change.
The Dutchman is just not the kind of player who gets angry on the pitch.
Van Dijk is calm and composed on the ball and reads the game well.
Yes, of course, the Dutchman will get frustrated from time to time, but there is no need for him to get mad and change his mindset.
Van Dijk is a world-class defender partly due to his demeanour on the pitch.
