Ryan Fraser looked back to his scintillating best on the wings as Newcastle United visited Brentford on Saturday afternoon, delighting some Magpies fans reacting on social media.
Toon boss Eddie Howe handed Fraser just his 13th start of the Premier League season so far against the Bees. The 28-year-old has struggled for form for most of the campaign and has made seven outings from the bench. But he showed what he can offer in west London.
Fraser helped Newcastle break the deadlock after 33-minutes at the Brentford Community Stadium by crossing for Joelinton to head home. The Brazilian leapt superbly to meet the Scotland international’s delivery with a powerful header past Bees goalkeeper David Raya.

Joelinton’s goal was just Fraser’s second assist of the season so far across all competitions after 22 games. His previous effort also came against Brentford in November’s 3-3 draw at St James’ Park after crossing to Allan Saint-Maximin for the Toon’s 75th-minute equaliser.
