Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after watching footage of Oleksandr Zinchenko embrace Vitaliy Mykolenko before Everton faced Manchester City.
What’s the story?
Well, the two Ukrainians abandoned their pre-match warmup to share a touching moment with each other at Goodison Park.
Zinchenko and Mykolenko could be seen embracing on the halfway line as supporters inside Goodison Park applauded them.
Of course, it goes without saying that both men are going through a very tough time at the moment, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Lineker – who used to play for Everton – found the footage to be “very moving” as he took to Twitter to share his thoughts.
It was especially nice to hear the applause aimed towards the pair of Ukraine internationals, who acknowledged the support by applauding back towards the stands.
Hopefully, the pair are coping as well as possible, and can find football as a form of escapism amid what is the bleakest moment in Europe for some time.
Everton and Manchester City must look after Mykolenko and Zinchenko

Premier League football is hard enough as it is, and it takes an immense about of focus and application to succeed in England’s top-flight.
In terms of focus, it must be incredibly hard for Mykolenko and Zinchenko to do that right now with everything that’s going on.

If either of them need a few days off, or something more than that, then Frank Lampard and Pep Guardiola need to listen and sympathise with them.
It’s time for the football family to rally together.
