According to FC Inter News, Newcastle have offered Andreas Christensen a four-year contract, with Tottenham also interested in the Chelsea defender.
What’s the story?
Well, the 25-year-old’s contract expires in June, with Newcastle and Tottenham sniffing around the situation.
Chelsea are yet to agree a new deal with the Denmark international, and as a result, the Magpies have made their move.
FC Inter News believe Newcastle have offered Christensen a contract worth more than his current terms – at the moment, he makes £83,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge.
It comes after Calciomercato revealed that Spurs recently held fresh talks with the Dane over a move to north London.
So far this season, Christensen has been a key man for Thomas Tuchel, making 26 appearances in all competitions.
Newcastle could make a statement by beating Tottenham

If Newcastle manage to pinch a key player from Chelsea, beating Tottenham to his signature in the process, it would be a real statement.
After the Saudi Arabian takeover, Newcastle have long-term plans to gatecrash the top six and become Champions League regulars.
In that respect, Chelsea and Tottenham should get used to the Magpies being a nuisance, although it would be a real statement if Eddie Howe upset the London giants now, seeing as Newcastle are still languishing near the bottom of the Premier League.

It would also speak volumes about the attractiveness of Newcastle if Christensen gave up Champions League football to join the Toon Army.
Keep an eye on this saga, as it remains to be seen if Christensen will accept the contract offer from Newcastle.
