Danny Mills feels Ben Mee outdid Cristian Romero to net Burnley’s goal to beat Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night as the Clarets defender ‘wants it more’, he said on talkSPORT.
Spurs crashed back down to earth from the highs of beating Manchester City after losing at Turf Moor. Antonio Conte’s side produced a valiant defensive display at the Etihad Stadium and rallied twice to regain their lead. But the north Londoners lacked a reply in Lancashire.
Mee beat Hugo Lloris for the only goal of the encounter in the 71st-minute of November’s re-arranged fixture. The Premier League postponed the original clash after heavy snow had covered the pitch, as Burnley’s undersoil heating worked in vain to keep the game playable.

Tottenham enjoyed a raft of chances to score at Burnley, but were ultimately undone by a simple set-piece routine. Ryan Sessegnon fouled former Spurs winger Aaron Lennon on the right-flank and from the resulting free-kick, Mee beat Romero at the back post to score.
Josh Brownhill delivered an inviting lofted ball into the six-yard area to apply pressure on Spurs. Mee then got the run on Romero, who desperately tried to twist his body and head clear to no avail. Lloris could only look on as the ball nestled in the far corner of his net.

Burnley’s win leaves Tottenham eighth in the Premier League table and seven-points from the Champions League places. They also only have two games in hand over fourth-place Manchester United, so will now be relying on results elsewhere to secure the UEFA berth.

Antonio Conte would have hoped Spurs’ £47m defender Romero could deal with Mee to at least take a point. But Mills feels the Clarets ace had the hunger the Argentine lacked.
“Simple set-piece,” he said. “High swinging delivery to the far post, and Mee wants it more than Cristian Romero. He sees the flight of the ball, Romero loses it, and he powers it into the far corner.
“On the balance of play, I think Burnley deserve that. They’ve played some really good stuff. They’ve been organised, resolute and at it from the first-minute.”
