Ray Parlour has claimed that he would have had Aaron Ramsdale as his Arsenal captain ‘if he was a centre-back’, as he told talkSPORT.
The Highbury legend pointed out that Ramsdale has the ‘desire’ for Arsenal and the club’s back four is ‘a lot more resilient now’.
Alexandre Lacazette is currently leading the troops out on a weekly basis, but for how long?
The Frenchman’s contract in north London expires in the summer and, at this moment in time, he is heading for the exit door.
If that’s the case, then Mikel Arteta will need to look for a new man to take the armband, as Parlour shared his thoughts on Ramsdale.
“I would have had Ramsdale if he was a centre-half because he has got that desire, hasn’t he?!” said Parlour.
“I think the back four are a lot more resilient now. They are harder to break down.
“Gabriel and White have got a really good partnership. Tomiyasu is a really good signing as well.”

There were a lot of question marks over Ramsdale when he was first signed up by the Gunners in the summer.
Given that the 23-year-old suffered back-to-back relegations with Bournemouth and Sheffield United, many worried that those inside the club were making a mistake.
But it has been far from that case and, heading into the final few months, he could argue that he has perhaps been the standout keeper in the division.
It’s understandable why fans would gravitate towards the England international and how his character alone would win him votes to be Arsenal’s next possible skipper.
