Ajax sensation and Brazil international Antony has been speaking to Mike Verweij about his future, with Liverpool interested in signing him.

What’s the story?

Well, it was 90min who revealed that Liverpool are interested in signing the South American, who Ajax signed for €15.5m (£13m) from Sao Paulo in 2020.

Now, Antony could be leaving Amsterdam in the near future.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, the 21-year-old said: “Ajax is the place where I feel happy, but of course I do think about a move in the future sometimes. Premier League and La Liga are the leagues I find beautiful. When the time is right, I hope to play there.”

If we were Jürgen Klopp, we’d be very encouraged by these comments.

Evidently, the South American is happy at Ajax, but if the opportunity to move to the Premier League arose, he may be tempted.

So far this season, Antony has scored 11 goals in 26 games, while also providing nine assists.

Antony could thrive at Liverpool

The last man to swap Ajax for Liverpool – Luis Suarez – did pretty well at Anfield, and we feel Antony has the potential to follow in his footsteps.

Aged just 21, the Brazil international is already playing at a very high level, and his potential is extraordinary.

For those of you who have doubts about the quality of the Eredivisie, it will bring you comfort to know that Antony is also delivering the goods in the Champions League.

In just five appearances so far this season, Antony has scored two goals and provided four assists in Europe’s greatest club competition.

With a manager like Klopp coaching him, Liverpool could have a potential Ballon d’Or winner on their hands if they can sign the Ajax sensation.

Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen.
