Alfredo Morelos’ agent has rubbished reports linking Rangers’ Scottish Premiership champion with a £20 million move to Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg, speaking to Sport24.
It’s go-time over in Russia.
If Zenit want to sparkle some star quality over an already tasty squad, one sitting two points clear at the top of the table and going head-to-head Real Betis in the Europa League round of 32, then they have until tomorrow to get the deal done.
One player who will not be arriving at the Gazprom Arena, however, is Alfredo Morelos.
Since establishing himself as the most lethal Ibrox marksman of the modern era, transfer speculation has followed the Rangers striker like a pack of bloodthirsty greyhound chasing after a hare.
With eight goals in his last ten games – including a far-post tap-in during Thursday’s stunning 4-2 win away at Borussia Dortmund – there’s an argument to be made that this is the most complete Morelos we have ever seen.
Fiery and fearsome, yes, but with added composure and consistency.
Is Alfredo Morelos staying at Rangers?
Reports from South America have suggested that Zenit St Petersburg are eyeing up a £20 million deal.
But Morelos’ agent, Michael Gorman, has wasted little time in cutting through this latest bout of gossip.

“This information is not true,” Gorman admits. “No proposals have been received from Russia.”
Rangers were never going to cash in on Morelos at this stage of the season. Especially with so much to play for.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have one foot in the Europa League round-of-16. But absolutely nobody will be resting on their laurels just yet.
If Erling Haaland returns from injury at Ibrox, Rangers may need their own talismanic centre-forward to play his part in what could still be a nail-biting second leg in Glasgow.
The Gers also have a three-point gap to claw back in the title race. A Giorgios Giakoumakis hat-trick extended Celtic’s lead at the top of the table this weekend.
