Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Joe Gomez has been discussing some of the fastest players at Liverpool.

The defender was asked about his pace rating on FIFA 22, and he certainly wasn’t happy with his score of just 81.

Gomez took real issue with EA Sports’ ratings, stating that another of Liverpool’s players in Virgil van Dijk is also underrated.

Gomez even went as far as to say that van Dijk and himself would give Mohamed Salah a run for his money in a race.

What’s been said?

Gomez gave his view on some of Liverpool’s speediest players.

“I think my pace has gone down, so I’m not happy about that. It could be better. People say to me that my Ultimate Team card is good. I appreciate that people use me, but I don’t appreciate that FIFA put me down. I think that me and Virg would give like Mo, he’s probably got a higher speed than us, but the distance in our ratings, I don’t think a race would reflect that. I’m not saying that we’d beat him in a race, but Virg is quick as well. I don’t think FIFA’s ratings are necessarily correct,” Gomez said.

Spectacle

We don’t know about you, but we’d pay good money to see Salah and van Dijk race.

Salah may be the better goalscorer. After all, van Dijk only has two league goals to his name this season, but when it comes to pace, they’re on an even keel.

The Egyptian is absolutely electric, and while van Dijk rarely has to go into a full sprint, when he goes for it he’s one of the quickest players in the world.

Van Dijk’s sheer stride length would give him an advantage, but Salah has that incredible acceleration.

It would be a close one, but our money would probably be on Salah if this race was to happen.
