Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has been talking about some of the injuries at Leeds United and the problems they’ve been having.

The Whites have had an uncanny number of injuries this season, and Hay discussed whether or not he feels like it’s down to the intensity of Marcelo Bielsa’s training.

The journalist says that some injuries at Leeds are just unavoidable, but he also claimed that some players are pushing themselves to the absolute limit, stating that Stuart Dallas plays while carrying an injury most weeks.

What’s been said?

Hay shared what he knows.

“Training must be having some impact on this season, some injuries are unavoidable, like Hjelde, it seemed like he just twisted his knee in the grass, but Dallas, when I spoke to Adam Forshaw for a piece that we did with him, he said to me that Dallas plays with injuries most weeks, he just plays through them because he wants to and he wants to be in the team, he wants to push himself through it,” Hay said.

Has to stop

While we can all appreciate Dallas’ dogged determination and warrior spirit, this type of thing has to stop.

We can understand that the Northern Irishman wants to play every week, but sometimes you just have to listen to your body and rest up.

In the long-term, this will benefit Dallas, because these small injuries can add up, and if they’re not addressed he may not be able to keep playing at this sort of level for a sustained period of time.

Dallas needs to make sure he’s looking after his body properly.
