Speaking on the Soccer AM YouTube channel, Ryan Fredericks has been discussing Declan Rice’s pace.
The right-back was tasked with guessing which player on the West Ham team has the highest pace rating on FIFA 22, and while Rice didn’t rank highly on the game, Fredericks says that the midfielder is actually quite rapid.
Indeed, the defender says that Rice is faster than people think, claiming that he’s usually one of the quickest players in West Ham’s sprinting drills.
What’s been said?
The defender reacted after seeing Rice’s pace rating on FIFA.
“That’s disrespectful, they need to up your pace man because you’re much faster than that,” Fredericks said.
“No one understands, I’m actually quite fast,” Rice said.
“They need to come to the training ground, once a week we do hill sprints and sprints and Dec is one of the quickest, they need to come and change that,” Fredericks concluded.

No slouch
Rice isn’t as quick as Fredericks by any stretch of the imagination, but he’s no slouch.
The midfielder often isn’t able to get into a full sprint on the pitch. After all, he’s usually manoeuvring around a very congested midfield, but when he does get going, he’s actually quite rapid.
He’s not got blistering pace, but he runs with such power and that makes him almost impossible to stop.
Rice gets a lot of credit for many aspects of his game, but perhaps he should be commended more for his speed.
