Giorgos Giakoumakis believes he is ready to kick on and build his Celtic career after scoring in the Parkhead outfit’s Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers, via quotes by the Daily Record.
The Greek striker has endured a disappointing debut season following a £2.5m move from VVV-Venlo last August. He had enjoyed a prolific record with the Dutch outfit through the 2020/21 campaign, but has failed to replicate his Eredivisie exploits in the Premiership.
Giakoumakis struck home 26 goals in 30 games to end last term as the Eredivisie’s outright top scorer by seven. He also added three in three KNVB Cup ties for Venlose Trots. Yet the 27-year-old has so far only scored four in 16 games for the Bhoys after netting on Sunday.

Of Giakoumakis’ Celtic goals, his Raith Rovers strike also marked his second in the Scottish Cup to two in the Premiership. Additionally, the six-cap international has only opened six of his 11 top-flight appearances since moving to Glasgow in Ange Postecoglou’s first window.
Postecoglou is also yet to start the forward in a European fixture after three Europa League outings for just 55-minutes. Giakoumakis could now alter that record this Thursday when Celtic host Bodo/Glimt in their Europa Conference League knockout round play-off first-leg.
Celtic striker Giakoumakis feels goals are ‘only thing missing’ from his game
Giakoumakis is confident he is now ready to kickstart his Celtic career against Bodo/Glimt after scoring against Raith Rovers. The striker never doubted his ability to cut it in Glasgow, despite his challenging first few months at Parkhead that were also impacted by injuries.

“It wasn’t about competition, it was about me,” he explained. “The only thing missing from me was a goal the last four or five games. So, that was something that I really wanted.”
