Newcastle United are now in real danger of losing centre back Fabian Schar to a Premier League rival with his contract now running down.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Schar is now attracting interest from mystery Premier League teams.
Schar is out of contract at the end of the season and will soon be able to walk away from Newcastle for absolutely nothing.
It’s stated that Napoli wanted to sign Schar in January and remain keen on a deal for the Swiss international this summer.
AC Milan, Sevilla and Valencia have also joined the race, but a host of Premier League teams are now keen to sign Schar too.
Newcastle are risking losing Schar by not having a deal in place, and it would sting to see him playing for a Premier League rival next season – if the Magpies stay up.
Schar, 30, is allegedly keen to stay put at Newcastle, so the Magpies do have some times to get an agreement sorted.
The Magpies paid just £3million to sign Schar from Deportivo La Coruna in 2018, which proved to be an absolute bargain deal.

Schar fell out of the plans under Steve Bruce, but has regained his place under Eddie Howe.
That suggests that Howe thinks highly of Schar, and views him as a key part of Newcastle’s plans moving forward.
Praised as ‘commanding’ by Alan Shearer, Schar has been a solid contributor and looks set to hold a fine partnership with Dan Burn.
Other centre backs have been linked, such as Diego Carlos and Sven Botman, but Newcastle should be looking to get Schar’s future sorted.
