Thierry Henry has stated that Tottenham ‘never’ take advantage of the top four race, as they proved over the weekend when Arsenal didn’t even play, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (15/02/22 at 7:20 pm).
The former France striker did make it clear that if Arsenal don’t secure Champions League football at the end of the season, then it will be a ‘failure’.
Arsenal didn’t play this weekend because of Chelsea’s Club World Cup commitments, with Spurs, West Ham and initially Manchester United, before last night’s win against Brighton, all dropping points.
For Spurs, they perhaps made the most mess of it all because they suffered a 2-0 defeat – their third in a row – and that to a fellow Champions League-chasing rival in Wolves.
All in all, when Henry shared his thoughts on the race for Champions League football in the Premier League, he couldn’t help but aim a jibe at Spurs.
“The best thing about Arsenal is that they didn’t play,” said Henry. “West Ham didn’t take advantage of it. Tottenham has never take advantage of it.
“But Arsenal had to go and win at Wolves. That was a massive win, so there are still a lot of games to go.
“For me, if they don’t do it, as I said at the start of the season, then it will be a failure.”

It’s Manchester United who are leading the top four charge, after their 2-0 win at home to Brighton on Tuesday night.
Sixth-placed Arsenal are four points behind those at Old Trafford, but the London club have three games in hand, the same with Spurs, but their points gap is seven points.
Wolves, on the other hand, who have one of the best defences from the teams chasing that fourth spot, are six points behind Man United with two games under their hat.
It doesn’t help matters that there are all these games in hand to be played because it hasn’t allowed anyone to properly gauge who is really leading the charge and who isn’t.
