Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he has ‘never had’ a player that can’t stop smiling so much in Liverpool training like Luis Diaz, as he told his pre-match press conference.

The Liverpool boss added that Diaz’s ‘joy and love’ for the game is so obvious to see following his January transfer move to Anfield.

The Reds are in Italy on Wednesday night and, in particular, in Milan, where they will lock horns with Inter in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

With Sadio Mane back in action, it’s highly unlikely that Diaz will start the first leg showdown, but there’s no reason why he can’t make a name for himself from the bench.

Ahead of the game, Klopp shared his thoughts on Diaz and what’s ‘crazy’ about the 25-year-old in training.

“Luis is a top boy and a top-class player,” said Klopp. He showed that already in the two appearances that he has had for us.

“It’s like this for a new player. We have to get used to different things – we give Luis a little bit more time to adapt to it.

“He’s an incredible player. His joy and love for football is obvious. When you see him training, he can’t stop smiling. I never had a player like this. It’s crazy.

“We are so, so happy to have him here. It’s absolutely great. We expect a lot from him in the future. Now also, but in the future as well, so I have a good feeling it will be a nice story with Luis at Liverpool.”

Liverpool have already faced Diaz this season when his Porto side were beaten 5-1 and 2-0 during their two fixtures in Europe.

Despite Porto’s struggles during the Champions League group stages, the flying winger still managed to score two goals.

Playing with a stronger crop of players, Diaz will be hoping to take his game to another level.

And with six European Cups in the Reds’ trophy cabinet, Klopp sure will want to add number seven to the club’s trophy room this term.
