According to La Repubblica, Liverpool and Newcastle are ready to sign Franck Kessie if he officially decides to leave AC Milan.

What’s the story?

Well, the Reds and the Magpies are lurking, with Kessie said to be unlikely to sign a new deal at the San Siro.

The 25-year-old’s contract expires in June, and he has a number of clubs sniffing around the situation.

In addition to Liverpool and Newcastle, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are also keen on the Ivory Coast international.

According to La Repubblica (print version, via Milan News), Kessie was whistled and booed by his own supporters in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Sampdoria.

It seems as if he’s beginning to burn his bridges at AC Milan, and all signs point to an exit for the energetic midfielder this summer.

Franck Kessie should choose Newcastle over Liverpool

If Kessie decides to move to the Premier League, then he should opt to join Newcastle over Liverpool.

The Ivorian will have more opportunities to play regularly at Newcastle, whereas he would have to fend off plenty of competition at Anfield.

Jürgen Klopp already has a wealth of midfield options, such as Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Thiago, Harvey Elliott, James Milner, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Under Eddie Howe, he would only need to compete with the likes of Jeff Hendrick, Jonjo Shelvey, Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimarães.

It also goes without saying that Newcastle can offer Kessie the contract of a lifetime, far more than he would receive elsewhere.

Keep an eye on this saga, as Kessie seems highly likely to leave Italy.
