Rio Ferdinand has said on his YouTube channel that reported Arsenal target and Manchester City attacking midfielder Raheem Sterling is “world class”.

The former Manchester United defender believes that Sterling, linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer tranfer window, has been world class for at least a couple of years now.

Ferdinand made the comments about the England international, who can also play as a winger, following his hat-trick against Norwich City in the Premier League this past weekend.

The Daily Star reported in January 2022 that Arsenal are interested in signing the 27-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Defending Premier League champions Manchester City could reportedly sell the former Liverpool player for £50 million.

Ferdinand said about Sterling on his YouTube channel: “I have been saying it for a couple of years now. This guy’s record is crackers. I don’t understand when people say that he is not world class.”

The pundit added: “What does he have to do to be world class? The guy has been racking up numbers for the last four-five years.

“He is winning trophy after trophy. What more do you need from somebody to be deemed world class? He has been phenomenal.”

Raheem Sterling would be brilliant for Arsenal

In our view, Sterling would be a great signing for Arsenal and would make the Gunners hugely potent in attack.

The Englishman has developed into a superb goalscorer under City manager Pep Guardiola and is also a very creative player.

Now, Sterling is not a ‘natural’ striker, but despite not being a number 9, he gets into very good goalscoring positions.

And that would make Arsenal a better side.

Sterling has scored 106 goals in 311 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
