Gareth Bale is reportedly on his way back to Tottenham Hotspur, and he may have found himself a new position at Real Madrid that could help Antonio Conte’s side next season.

Gareth Bale will reportedly join Tottenham Hotspur

Earlier this week, TuttoMercatoWeb reported that Bale has agreed a pre-contract with Tottenham and will return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer of 2022.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

The Wales international winger is out of contract at Spanish and European giants Madrid at the end of the season.

Back in action for Real Madrid

Bale has struggled for playing time at Madrid this season, but on Saturday, he was back in action for the first time since August.

The Welshman is a winger by trade, but with Karim Benzema out injured, the 32-year-old started as the number 9 against Villarreal at Estadio de la Ceramica.

The match ended in a goalless draw.

Praise from Spanish media

Marca have praised Bale for his performance, saying that the attacker “did really well” in the number 9 role.

Bale played as a “pure forward” and “dedicated himself to waiting for balls to arrive in the area to finish off”.

According to Marca, the problem for Bale was that Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli was very good and kept out everything that was thrown at him.

Real Madrid-centric website The Real Champions gave Bale 7 out of 10, saying that “Bale did not get much service for most of the game, but he made his own chances through his experience”.

Bale took six shots and three were on target, had a pass accuracy of 71.4%, won two headers, had 19 touches, and made one tackle.
