Pierluigi Gollini may already be plotting his next move away from Tottenham Hotspur with his representatives allegedly speaking to Lazio.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is keen to bring Gollini to the Italian capital.

It’s stated that contact has been made between Tare and Gollini’s entourage in an attempt to set up a summer move.

There is a possibility that Tottenham keep Gollini. Currently on loan from Atalanta, there is a £13million purchase option in the deal.

Alternatively, that fee becomes an obligation if Gollini plays 20 games this season and Tottenham have an option to extend the loan by a year.

Gollini has only played eight games this season and none of those appearances have come in the Premier League.

With Tottenham out of the Carabao Cup and Europa Conference League, it’s hard to see how Gollini hits the 20-game mark.

Additionally, talkSPORT reported in December that Antonio Conte ‘isn’t convinced’ by Gollini, with Tottenham targeting Sam Johnstone as his replacement.

Gollini notably produced a major error in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea, failing to take his rare chance in the team.

That all points towards Gollini being sent back to Atalanta this summer and Lazio are already gearing up to bring him to Rome.

Lazio have Pepe Reina as their main goalkeeper, with Thomas Strakosha set to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.

That’s why Lazio are already preparing their move for Gollini, seemingly believing he is the ideal competition for Reina.

Unless Tottenham suddenly decide Gollini really is the heir to Hugo Lloris, we can’t see the Italian staying – and Spurs would likely allow Lazio to make their move without competing with them.

Gollini is still likely to be on the Tottenham bench against Wolverhampton Wanderers today, but the end may be approaching.
