Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to provide an update on Youri Tielemans, with Arsenal interested in signing the Leicester maestro.

What’s the story?

Well, it was Goal who revealed that Arsenal are keen to sign Tielemans, and the Gunners have already met with his agents at London Colney.

Now, Romano has claimed that the Belgium international wants to leave.

The £35m man’s contract expires in June 2023, and he has decided not to sign fresh terms at the King Power Stadium.

As a result, Tielemans is likely to leave this year, or else Leicester risk losing him for nothing in 2023.

You can see what Romano wrote on Twitter in full below.

By the sounds of it, Arsenal will face plenty of competition for the 24-year-old, as “many” big clubs are sniffing around.

So far this season, Tielemans has scored six goals in 27 appearances, while also providing three assists.

In our view, Arsenal must win the race to sign Tielemans.

You would imagine that the Gunners have something of a head start in this race, as they’ve already met with his representatives.

Now, they must use that initial contact to their advantage and push to agree a deal with Tielemans and Leicester.

The former Monaco midfielder would be the perfect partner for Thomas Partey, as he possesses a keen eye for goal and plenty of attacking intent.

With Partey tending to sit deeper and protect the back four, it could be a midfield duo which contains everything Arsenal need.
