According to Jeunes Footeux, Tottenham remain interested in signing Cheick Doucoure, after submitting a bid for him in 2021.
What’s the story?
Well, the French news outlet believe Spurs made a bid for the 22-year-old last year, before turning their attentions to another target.
Now, Jeunes Footeux believe Tottenham are still monitoring Doucoure, who is also attracting interest from Sevilla and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
It is said that Tottenham’s offer was in the region of €15m – €20m (£13m – £17m). You would presume that figure has increased following some fine performances this season.
The 8-cap Mali international has been a regular for RC Lens this term, making 23 appearances in all competitions, providing three assists.
Alongside Seko Fofana in midfield, Doucoure has helped RC Lens to ninth in Ligue 1, a very respectable position at this stage of the campaign.
Tottenham could have their own Fabinho in Cheick Doucoure

You may not have heard much about Doucoure, and if that is the case, then a comparison may be helpful.
Interestingly, the Bamako-born midfielder has been likened to Liverpool stalwart Fabinho by a statistics based page called Analysis ID.
They compare the Malian to the Brazilian as a result of their tendency to sit in front of the back four, but also possess the technical ability to punch forward passes in between the lines.

If Doucoure is even a fraction of the player Fabinho is, then Spurs should do all they can to sign the blossoming young midfielder.
Alongside Pape Matar Sarr, he could be part of Tottenham’s midfield for the foreseeable future.
