Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that Cristian Romero is like a new signing for him.
Conte has praised Romero and has outlined the importance of the central defender for his Tottenham team.
The Argentina international central defender has only just returned to action after a long spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Tottenham head coach Conte has said that the 23-year-old central defender is like a new signing for him.
Conte has added that Eric Dier, Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga are not available for the Premier League game against Southampton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Romero moved to Tottenham on loan from Atalanta in the summer of 2021.

The 23-year-old has made six starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season.
Romero has also played twice in the Carabao Cup, once in the FA Cup, and twice in the UEFA Conference League.
Antonio Conte on Tottenham defender Cristian Romero
Conte told Football.London: “No news. Eric Dier is not available and it’s the same for Skipp and Tanganga. The others are all available.”
The Italian added about Romero: “He is an important player for me. He is a new signing for me because he played three games with me, and only one game in the league.
“He is an important player for me and the team. He is strong and he anticipates, he has a good personality to play with the ball. He has good experience and I like him. He has a lot of space for improvement.”
Big player for Tottenham
In our view, Romero will be a big player for Tottenham in the final weeks and months of the season.
Conte’s comments make it clear that he rates Romero highly, and we think that the defender will play a big role in Spurs’ quest to win the FA Cup and finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
