Leeds United have now reportedly firmly joined the race to sign Djed Spence, who has taken the Championship by storm this season.

According to journalist Dean Jones via GiveMeSport, the Yorkshire giants are keen on the English talent, who this weekend starred for Nottingham Forest in their 4-1 FA Cup win against Leicester City.

On loan from Middlesbrough, Spence is expected to attract major interest from Premier League clubs in the summer, with Sky Sports News reporting that Arsenal and Tottenham are chasing the defender.

With two major English clubs chasing Spence, Leeds could consider themselves the underdogs for the Championship talent, yet according to Jones, Marcelo Bielsa’s side could be the ideal destination for the youngster.

The Yorkshire side have an impressive record of developing British players in recent years, and the club’s style of play under the Argentine aligns with Spence’s energetic form of playing down the wing.

The journalist said when asked about who was interested in Spence: “Leeds was the other club I was told, so someone like Leeds, he fits in perfectly, but it comes down to the player and how he sees his ambition.”

With Arsenal and Tottenham both having strong cases for signing Spence, Leeds face some strong competition to sign the 21-year-old right-back. However, Bielsa’s side could prove to be perfect for the Championship superstar.

Indeed, the defender is likely to feature regularly for Leeds given his qualities and age, and his style of play makes him the perfect player to operate down the right for the Yorkshire giants next season.
