Fabrizio Romano has told his Here We Go podcast that Brendan Rodgers is considering a move to sign Celtic player Josip Juranovic. The Leicester boss is said to be one of ‘many clubs’ interested in Ange Postecoglou’s signing.
Juranovic, 26, has impressed since joining Celtic in the summer – as one of Postecoglou’s many signings during the Australian gaffer’s new era at Parkhead. He has scored four goals in 26 appearances for the Hoops.
With 15 caps for Croatia under his belt, he was seen quite a coup for the Hoops. His form has been excellent, despite a rotational system that also includes Greg Taylor and Anthony Ralston. He has a contract until 2026.
Italian journalist Romano says his form for Celtic is earning interest from “many clubs” including Leicester City – who of course, are managed by Rodgers. Romano thinks a deal could be done for a fee of £12.5million.
“Juranovic is a very interesting name to keep an eye on. Leicester, but not only Leicester. This is the right-back playing for Celtic. His price will be around €10, €12-€15 million,” Romano has told his podcast.
“But this boy is doing great with Celtic. He’s performing at the top level. I have a feeling that in the summer, he will have a chance to move. I’m told many clubs are exploring this opportunity.”
Romano on Juranovic: Do Leicester really need Celtic full-back?
Leicester boast numerous options at full-back. Luke Thomas, Timothy Castagne, Ricardo Pereira, Marc Albrighton, Ryan Bertrand and James Justin. The latter has returned from injury.
So, quite brutally, Leicester would be wasting their resources on a player they simply do not need. Juranovic is hardly an improvement on Justin, Castagne of Pereira. While cheap, he should not be an option for the Foxes.
