Lyon star Lucas Paqueta has responded to Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes’s latest post on Instagram.

Guimaraes joined Newcastle from Lyon in the January transfer window and has started training with his new teammates.

Lyon midfielder Paqueta has responded to the Brazil international’s post on Instagram, as you can see below.

Paqueta wrote, as translated from Portuguese: “God bless you buddy”.

Paqueta is 24 as well, and like Guimaraes, he plays for the Brazil national football team.

Interestingly, Newcastle reportedly wanted to sign the former AC Milan player in the January transfer window.

According to Le10 Sport, Newcastle made a £34 million bid for Paqueta in December 2021.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

Bruno Guimaraes could be massive for Newcastle

In our view, Guimaraes could be a big signing for Newcastle, not just for now, but for years to come as well.

The midfielder is a very dynamic player who can hold his own in the middle of the park.

Newcastle paid an initial £33 million for the 24-year-old, which shows just how highly he is rated.

Guimaraes made 19 starts and one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 for Lyon this season before his January move to Newcastle.

The Brazilian gave three assists in those games.
