Premier League Crystal Palace could renew their interest in Russia international Daniil Fomin after missing out on Donny Van de Beek to Everton, agent Alexander Manyakov tells Komsomolskaya Pravda.
Crystal Palace entered the winter market with a goalscoring midfielder in their sights. Imagine Patrick Vieira’s disappointment, then, when the window closed on 11pm last Monday without one arriving.
Aaron Ramsey opted for European football north of the border at Rangers. Christian Eriksen joined the Danish revolution at Brentford.
And Donny Van de Beek, Palace’s top target, opted for Everton as the Manchester United misfit looks to make up for lost time on English soil.
But, as Fomin’s agent points out, a deadline day deal for the Dynamo Moscow ace was all-but impossible.
“Crystal Palace are keeping a close eye on him,” says Manyakov. “The team had their number one goal – Van de Beek.
“Because they wanted proven quality, they wanted to take a player from the Premier League. But he moved to Everton.
“And taking a Russian on the final day of the transfer window is almost impossible. Because such a transfer is associated with a whole bunch of organisational problems; visas, medical examinations, signing a contract, work permits.
“This is very difficult to do in one day.”
Will Daniil Fomin end up at Selhurst Park?
Fomin, an attacking midfielder with a Frank Lampard-style penchant for making perfectly timed runs into the penalty area, has scored seven goals in 19 games this season.
The 24-year-old was also linked with Newcastle United and West Ham during the January window.
And Manyakov believes that Crystal Palace could come calling again sooner rather than later. Particularly if Fomin helps Russia reach the World Cup finals at Poland’s expense during March’s qualifiers.

“Crystal Palace did not sign anyone,” the agent adds. And they said that they would return to the discussion for Daniil Fomin. The interest in him was concrete.
“(If he helps Russia reach the World Cup) this interest will be multiplied by two.”
“It is very important that Dynamo get into European competition and perform well there. And the games for the national team are very important for us now.”
“If Daniil proves himself and the national team reaches Qatar, I think the likelihood of his departure in the summer will increase many times over.”
