Sir Kenny Dalglish has raved about Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate in The Sunday Post for his performance against Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers in midweek.

The Celtic legend believes that Hatate was “staggering” for the Hoops in their win against Ibrox club Rangers in the Old Firm derby on Wednesday evening.

The 24-year-old midfielder was involved in all three goals at Celtic Park, as Ange Postecoglou’s side won the Scottish Premiership game 3-0.

Hatate scored two goals – first in the fifth minute and then on 42 minutes – and provided the assist for Liel Abada’s goal.

Dalglish wrote in The Sunday Post: “Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate arrived from the same source last month, and the latter has made as big an impact as Kyogo.

“His contribution against Rangers last Wednesday night – with two of the goals and setting up the third for Liel Abada – was quite staggering. The Japanese midfielder grabbed the headlines and rightly so.”

Reo Hatate is a big player for Celtic

In our view, Hatate is a big player for Celtic and is doing well for the Hoops.

The midfielder played well against Rangers and did not get fazed by the occasion.

The Japanese player took his goals well and was arguably the best player on the pitch.

Hatate has scored three goals and provided one assist in four Scottish Premiership matches for the Bhoys so far this season.

For Celtic to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title from bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers this season, Hatate will have to play a big role.
