Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria has responded to Tottenham Hotspur-owned midfielder Giovani Lo Celso’s post on Instagram following his move to Villarreal.

Lo Celso moved to La Liga club Villarreal on loan from Premier League outfit Tottenham in the January transfer window.

The transfer was completed on the final day of the January window.

Lo Celso has expressed his delight at the move, saying on Instagram: “Happy and very excited about this new challenge 😁👍🏼 @villarrealcf”.

Di Maria played with the Tottenham midfielder when they were at PSG – now managed by former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino – and is an Argentina international teammate of the 25-year-old.

The PSG star has responded to Lo Celso’s post on Instagram, saying: “Sure friend. Congratulations. The best.”

Giovani Lo Celso could flourish away from Tottenham

In our view, Lo Celso could flourish at Villarreal and show the kind of form that he could not at Tottenham.

The 25-year-old midfielder had injury problems during his time at Tottenham and could not always convince his managers to play him regularly when he was fit.

Lo Celso scored one goal and created five big chances in 55 Premier League appearances for Spurs.

In our view, Lo Celso will find it tough to eke out a future at Tottenham under Antonio Conte.

Tottenham head coach Conte left Lo Celso out of the team against Chelsea despite him being fully fit.

And just days later Lo Celso was off to Villarreal.

So, in our opinion, it is going to be hard for Lo Celso to play for Tottenham under Conte again.
