Fabrizio Romano has reported that Rangers do not have a permanent clause in their loan deal for Aaron Ramsey. The midfielder joined the Gers on deadline day in a sensational move from Juventus, until the summer.

Ramsey, 31, had been looking for a return to the United Kingdom but despite interest from the Premier League – he has chosen to join Rangers. There had been murmurs of a permanent clause in the contract.

Some had reported there were, while other outlets claimed a permanent deal had not been included. He is out of contract at Juventus in June 2023, but TuttoJuve claim that Ramsey could leave on a free this summer.

Now, Romano reports that contrary to some reports, there is no permanent clause in his loan deal. But the Italian journalist does say that Rangers have first refusal ahead of other clubs to sign Ramsey permanently.

Romano on Ramsey: Can Rangers land permanent deal for Wales ace?

The question is, will they be able to afford his wages. Ramsey clearly likes the idea of playing for Rangers, and obviously, Rangers are massively improved with the midfielder in their side. But financially, it will be tricky.

Some reports say Ramsey is earning £400,000 a week at Juventus. While that seems hard to believe, it could well be true given he joined Juve on a Bosman from Arsenal in 2019. A few things need to happen to make it work.

Juventus would need to at least contribute, firstly, until his Juve deal ends. Ramsey would have to take a big pay cut, a huge one, and Rangers would have to make him their best-paid player.
