Jack Wilshere has been speaking to Arsenal about life at London Colney, after training with the Gunners since October.
Specifically, the 30-year-old took some time to shower Gabriel Martinelli in praise, and also hail Mikel Arteta for his work with the Brazilian.
What’s the story?
Well, Wilshere believes Martinelli is going to the “top” after training with him for the past few months.
Speaking to Arsenal, the England international said: “The one player who I really like and think he’s going to be top is Martinelli. I think what the manager has done with him has been genius as well.”
We simply can’t disagree.
Every time we see the 20-year-old play, he causes major problems for the opposition with his directness and pace.
Martinelli doesn’t mess around, and as soon as he gets the ball, you can feel the buzz around the Emirates Stadium.
After a serious knee injury, the £90,000-a-week man has bounced back in style this season with four goals in ten Premier League starts.
Martinelli was also named as the Premier League Player of the Month for his efforts throughout December.
Arsenal should offer Jack Wilshere a contract

In our view, Arsenal should offer Wilshere a short-term contract.
Arteta’s midfield options are seriously thin, and reinforcements in that department really should’ve been signed in January.
Sadly, no first-team additions were made, hence why we feel the Gunners should offer Wilshere a short-term deal until the end of the season.
He has been training with Arsenal for months now, and even travelled to Dubai for the warm weather training camp.

Surely, if he wasn’t keeping up with others at London Colney, Arteta wouldn’t have let him stay this long – he’s clearly holding his own.
If he can prove his fitness, then this should be a no-brainer.
Wilshere is a wonderful footballer who shone under Arsené Wenger, so there’s no reason why he can’t slot into Arteta’s slick style of play either.
