Southampton are expected to renew their interest in Chelsea’s Tino Anjorin in the summer transfer window after the Premier League youngster joined Huddersfield Town on loan, according to The Athletic.

Since July 28th, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints have signed no fewer than three players from the reigning European Champions.

And, in the last seven months, Tino Livramento has gone from little-known 18-year-old to one of the most exciting young full-backs in Europe. A red-and-white blur of aggression and acceleration.

Meanwhile, there’s an argument to be made that the most in-form Chelsea striker is not Romelu Lukaku but Armando Broja. The ice-cool Albanian has stepped effortlessly into Danny Ings’ shoes on the South Coast.

And that’s without mentioning Dynel Simeu, the exciting centre-half joining Carlisle United on loan after impressing for Southampton’s U23s.

Will Anjorin join or replace Armando Broja at Southampton?

By the time next summer arrives, Anjorin could take the number of former Chelsea starlets plying their trade at St Mary’s to four.

That is presuming Broja turns his loan deal into a permanent transfer, or has his season-long deal extended for a further 12 months.

Southampton held talks with Anjorin in January – a fact confirmed by his father and agent. The England U20 international joined promotion-chasing Huddersfield Town on loan instead. But there’s still a chance that Anjorin will be joining Livramento on the South Coast before long.

According to The Athletic, Southampton always felt that the £17 million-rated wonderkid will be more attainable in the summer.

Clubs cannot sign two players on loan from the same Premier League team. The Athletic says that this was a major factor in Southampton deferring their interest until the summer.

The implication, there, being that Southampton would rather sign Anjorin on loan rather than on a permanent deal.

Furthermore, if the Saints are planning to renew their interest post-May, does that mean Broja is unlikely to see his loan deal extended?

These questions will be answered in the months to come.
