Trezeguet is leaving Premier League giants Aston Villa after agreeing a loan move to Istanbul Basaksehir with the Super Lig club’s president claiming that a deal has been ‘agreed’, via NTV Spor.
He seems to have something of a hero complex, Trezeguet.
During his debut season at Villa Park, the £9 million winger scored that dramatic, last-gasp decider in the EFL Cup semi-final victory over Leicester City.
He netted both goals in a vital 2-0 win against Crystal Palace, and the only goal of the game against Arsenal. Two nail-biting victories which played a major role in Aston Villa’s ‘Great Escape’ from relegation.
So it felt somewhat fitting that Trezeguet would step off the bench to send the whole of Egypt into raptures on Sunday afternoon.
His 100th minute tap-in, set up by a fabulous Mo Salah assist, fired The Pharaohs into the African Cup of Nations semi-finals at Morocco’s expense.
One suspects Istanbul Basaksehir will be hoping that Trezeguet brings his penchant for decisive strikes with him to the Turkish capital.
Will Trezeguet ever play for Aston Villa again?
“We have agreed with Aston Villa about the rental transfer of Trezeguet,” says president Goksel Gumusdag.
“He will join the team soon.”

On Friday, Basaksehir coach Emre Belezoglu – he of Newcastle United fame – confirmed his desire to bring Trezeguet back to Turkey.
The much-travelled wideman had been a revelation during a previous spell in the Super Lig at Kasimpasa, scoring 25 goals in just two seasons.
“We are interested in Trezeguet,” Emre admits. “We are looking for players who will contribute to goals and increase productivity in the final third.”
Trezeguet has endured a difficult season at Villa Park. He missed the first four months of the campaign following knee surgery.
Once, once he returned, he found Philippe Coutinho providing renewed competition for a starting berth.
