Il Resto Del Carlino report that Leeds, Leicester and Manchester United would have to pay £5million to sign Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay. Bologna were interested, but have chosen to pull out of a move.
Ramsay, 18, has been crucial for Aberdeen this season – clocking up 22 games in all competitions, boasting eight assists in those games. It comes after breaking into the senior side last term, playing six matches.
His form on the right side of defence has been superb. Bologna wanted to sign the Scotland Under-21 star, with Aaron Hickey impressing in Italy. But Aberdeen want £5million, and that has seen Bologna surrender a move.
Indeed, the report also claims that Leeds, Leicester and Manchester United are all showing interest in Ramsay. Whether a move will be made by any of the three on deadline day, remains to be seen. He has a contract until 2024.
Leeds, Leicester and United eye Ramsay: £5m could be a bargain
Ramsay is showing enormous potential in the top-flight of Scottish football, which is a division with improving quality as every window goes by. At 18, he is already proving to be one of Aberdeen’s best players.
£5million is expensive for a player that has only play 28 times at senior level. But given the potential of Ramsay, the Premier League clubs could end up signing a bargain if they meet the Pittodrie side’s asking price.
As aforementioned, it is unclear if a deadline-day move will be eyed by the Premier League clubs given he is still learning his trade north of the border. It could be one that happens in the summer.
