Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli is now on the verge of joining Everton on a permanent deal before tonight’s transfer deadline.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the deal between Tottenham and Everton has now been done.

Romano claims it’s a permanent deal for Alli given that Everton are set to sign Donny van de Beek as their second loan addition.

Sky Sports noted that talks were underway not long ago, so this move appears to be progressing very quickly.

Romano believes Alli is having a medical in the coming hours with Frank Lampard keen to bring the Tottenham ace to Merseyside.

Lampard was only confirmed as Everotn boss earlier today but he is already active in the transfer market by signing Alli.

You can understand why Lampard fancies Alli.

When Alli is at his best, he’s a goalscoring midfielder who excels at late runs into the box and running off a centre forward.

That’s exactly how Lampard became a Chelsea hero in his playing days, with the new Everton boss potentially feeling he can get Alli back on track.

Alli was a sensation in his first three seasons at Tottenham, smashing 46 goals after a 2015 move from Milton Keynes Dons.

It’s been tough going since then though, with Alli regressing to just 21 goals in the last three-and-a-half years; a massive decline.

Antonio Conte seemingly doesn’t fancy Alli and has now made him available for a late deadline day transfer.

Alli just needs a fresh start away from Tottenham and to get back to what he does best.

Playing under Lampard should be the kickstart Alli needs, playing in a role that suits him and in a new surrounding away from Tottenham.

This isn’t the career many expect for Alli, but he now has a golden chance to get back on track at Everton.
