Aston Villa have reignited their interest in Yves Bissouma after missing out on Rodrigo Bentancur to Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Telegraph (Transfer Live blog, 10:31am, January 31, 2022).
The Telegraph are reported this morning that Villa are back in for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Bissouma.
Steven Gerrard’s side will make a decision today whether to make a bid for the Mali international midfielder on January transfer deadline day or wait until the summer of 2022.
Villa reportedly wanted to sign Bentancur from Juventus, but Antonio Conte’s Tottenham have beaten them to the signature of the midfielder.
The Telegraph have reported that Villa have had a bid of £25 million for Bissouma already turned down this month, which means that their potential second offer will have to more than that.

Aston Villa should bid for Yves Bissouma now
In our view, if Villa want to sign Bissouma, then they should make an offer for him now.
We do not think that the Villans should wait until the summer of 2022, as it is very likely that more clubs will be interested in the 25-year-old, described as “sensational” by Arsenal legend Ian Wright on Wrighty’s House Podcast in August 2021.
Bissouma is a very dynamic midfielder who would be able to make an immediate impact at Villa and make Gerrard’s better in the middle of the park.
