Championship side AFC Bournemouth gave reportedly made a loan offer for Liverpool talent Neco Williams, who could depart Merseyside before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
According to the Daily Star, the Cherries are working on a deal to bring the 20-year-old to the south coast for the remainder of the season. Moreover, Williams is keen to leave for regular first-team football ahead of World Cup qualifiers with Wales.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold in a realm of his own in terms of right-backs, playing time with Liverpool has been scarce with the Reds this campaign, yet Bournemouth could prove opportunities for the youngster, with Scott Parker’s side in the driving seat for Premier League promotion.
A loan to the Championship would suit Williams, who has impressed supporters since his emergence from the academy, with Jurgen Klopp even being left speechless by the defender in training as per Liverpool’s official website.
Whilst Liverpool are yet to decide on the loan proposal from Bournemouth, it is more than likely that Williams will be heading down south to join the second-tier club. However, worries over another defensive crisis could prevent a move.
As per the report, Liverpool don’t want to be left short in defence should a repeat of last season curtail the Reds’ chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League as well as hinder their chances of League Cup and FA Cup success.
Liverpool should allow Williams to join Bournemouth despite injury fears
The fear of losing key defenders to injury will always linger for any club. However, this shouldn’t stop Liverpool from offloading Williams to Bournemouth to get valuable first-team experience with one of the Championship’s top clubs.
After all, playing regular senior football is crucial for a player of Williams’ age, and Bournemouth will no doubt be able to provide this for the Wales international, who could flourish under Parker for the Cherries.
