Everton owner Farhad Moshiri assured the final three candidates for the vacant manager’s role they will be backed in the transfer market, as Frank Lampard presented several ideas.

That’s according to the Mirror, who note Lampard expects to receive a physical contract on Saturday to take charge. Moshiri interviewed the Chelsea legend and former Derby boss on Friday, along with Vitor Pereira and Duncan Ferguson, in search of Rafa Benitez’s successor.

Lampard is now the overriding favourite for the Goodison Park hot seat, having impressed Moshiri in his second interview. Figures close to the England icon are confident the Toffees board gave positive indications that they will offer the 43-year-old his return to the dugout.

Everton hope to finalise personal terms with their next manager, most likely Lampard as of now, this weekend. The Blues will then rush to secure late deals before Monday’s deadline.

Moshiri assured final Everton candidates of funds as Lampard gave transfer ideas

Moshiri assured Lampard, Pereira and Ferguson they will have funds for last-ditch transfers if they are named Everton’s next manager. The Toffees have already spent £17m on Vitaliy Mykolenko and £16m on Nathan Patterson, while loaning Anwar Al Ghazi under Benitez.

The Blues hope to make at least a couple more signings before the mid-season sales slam shut on Monday night. Lampard also identified several possible transfer targets he wants during his second interview with Moshiri over being Everton’s next manager.

Lampard’s clear idea for how he will tackle the final day(s) of the market may have swung the decision. He expressed desires to sign players, with several targets suggested for loan deals. The Athletic report Everton accept they must sign a central midfielder this month.

Everton have suffered with numerous injuries to their engine room so far this season. They are now without Abdoulaye Doucoure (groin) and Fabian Delph (thigh) for four-weeks. The Blues are also still waiting on Tom Davies’ return, with just three senior players available.
