Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are considering a late move for Ousmane Dembele, but so are Manchester United and Chelsea, according to Marca.

Marca are reporting today that Newcastle, Manchester United and Chelsea all are considering making bids for Barcelona forward Dembele in the final days of the January transfer window.

Newcastle, United and Chelsea all could sign the France international on loan until the end of the season.

Ousmane Dembele to Newcastle on loan would make sense

In our view, Dembele would be a good signing for Newcastle on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at Barcelona at the end of the season, and there is speculation that he will not play for the first team again if he does not sign a new deal.

So, in our view, a move to Newcastle would make sense, as the Frenchman would get playing time.

And he would make the Magpies better in attack.

GiveMeSport quoted Paris Saint-Germain forward and former Barcelona star Lionel Messi as saying about Dembele in March 2020: “His pace is frightening in training.”

Barcelona themselves could be open to a loan exit.

After all, the La Liga giants would save on the forward’s weekly salary of £287,000 (SalarySport).

And Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) could easily afford that.

However, we have to consider that Manchester United and Chelsea are bigger clubs and are more appealing than Newcastle.

At least at the moment.

So, in our view, Newcastle are not going to find it easy to tempt Dembele to move to St. James’ Park, especially as Howe’s side are in real danger of getting relegated.
